GHANA - Persuing James Rutland
In the cut scene, Lara slides down
a slope and talks to Zip. She says that there is no sign of Rutland so far.
He tells her that as he was looking the map, her parents have been there and
that her father worked this site before Lara was born. Lara says that this is
not something peculiar; it happens occasionally.
Follow the path and go down the steps.
The cut scene shows Lara reaching
a cliff. The view is so beautiful and she comments that if everyting fails,
she can get into the postcard business. She uses her binoculars and sees a helicopter.
Zip, judging from where the helicopter landed, tells her that they did not get
from this side. Then Lara says that she better plug off some cliffs.
Jump into the water below and surface. Turn to face the mechanism on the land.
There are three Rewards in the water: one on the right (Bronze
Reward 1/5 ), one straight ahead beneath the mechanism (but you cannot
get it now) and the third one on the left (Bronze Reward
2/5). You will spot them easily as they glow even
if you surface.
Climb out of the water in front of the mechanism. Climb on the rock on the
right, then on the next one above. Jump to grab the rope
and lower the mechanism. Either swing and jump on the mechanism or drop down
and use the Grapple to pull it down.
The cut scene shows the mechanism
activate. The waterfalls open and a huge Temple is revealed. Zip is amazed.
Rutland appears on a high ledge. Lara calls him down for a chat, but Rutland
is not willing to go, unless Lara can shoot this far. When he leaves, Lara asks
Zip that Alister should look at this, but he tells her that only him and her
are for now, since Alister went to find out where the original pieces came from.
Inside the Temple - Before entering the Temple, jump
into the water and get the Silver Reward (1/4)
beneath the mechanism (the one you could not get before). Then climb out of
the water and enter the Temple. Follow the passage and go down the steps. You
come across a pool. The part that is closest to you has a current that pushes
you back (to your side) and the other half that pushes you forward (to the opposite
side, where you have to go). Use the Grapple, catch the raft
and pull it to your side. Jump on it, jump to grab the rope and jump forwards.
It does not matter if you do not grab the second rope, because you will fall
to the part of the pool that the current pushes you forward. If you fall in
the pool, climb out of the water.
Continue through the passage. Lara says she has seen this before (refering
to the statue on the right) in her father's sketchbook. So, he has been there.
Go up the steps and draw weapons. A guard is beyond
the doorway, so kill him. Go around to the left and jump over the archaeological
pole. Step on the pressure pad to open a door at
the end of the hallway. Once you stepp off, the door will start closing, so
you need to be quick. Run, jump over the first achaeological pole, keep running
and press the Crouch\ Roll button to perform a low
somersault and pass beneath the second pole. Repeat the somersault if necessary
to pass through the door.
Area with wheels - There are three
guards beyond, plus two more on the ledge
ahead. Kill them and be prepared for two more that
will appear through a door. You can explode a barrel beneath the ledge and make
the alst pair of guards a history quicker. Once you are done, pick up the items
you need that guards dropped: Health Packs, Grenades
and guns (which will count as ammo). Go to the
far right of the area and climb on the stone ledge. Pick up the Bronze
Reward (3/5) and go to the left. Use the
big gun that one of the gurads was using before and shoot the pillar on the
left (it is between the wheel and the rope). The camera shows you that door
you came through closed and then focuses on the other doorway which is blocked
by archaeological poles.
You need to grab one of the poles of the turning
wheel. You can use the nearby rope and grap the
pole, but if you cannot do that, you can do it from the ground. Approach the
wheel and wait for pole to come down. Wait unti it moves up, swing and jump
to grab the other rope (on the other side). Swing
and jump to the ledge. Turn right and jump to the metalic
hanging ledge. Use the Grapple to catch the broken pillar beyond on the
left. Pull yourself close to it. The doorway on the left is blocked, so jump
to grab the rope. Swing and jump to grab the first
pole of the still wheel. Jump to grab the second
pole and finally jump to grab the ladder. Climb to the top.
Turn around and go to the other side. Climb up the second ladder and jump to
grab the crack on the left on the left. Jump to grab the crack above and traverse
to the left around the corner. Jump to grab the bars above. Lara says that this
channel leads directly down to the wheel and Zip says that the wheel needs a
thousand of gallons of water. Lara says that it is not done... yet. Climb to
the top and continue ahead. Do not drop down. A leopard
is on the loose, so kill it from here. Then drop down.
Area with blocked pool - Turn to face the way you
came and go to the far left. Climb on the broken stairs and continue around
to the right and up the steps. Go down the next steps and pick up the Bronze
Reward (4/5) from behind the rock. Climb
on this rock, using some stones at the back (in the corner). You can see two
hanging boxes, where the one is lower than the other. From the rock, jump to
grab the higher box. Lara's weight will lower the box and raise the other one.
When the second box is a bit higher than the first one, jump to it , then run
and jump to grab the ladder ahead. Climb to the top and continue ahead.
The cut scene shows a pool, a stone
door that blocks the water and a mechanism that operates the door.
Jump into the water. There is a low ledge here, where you can climb out (as
shown in this screenshot). Do that, jump on
the broken stone stairs and pick up the Silver Reward (2/4).
Then jump into the water again.
You need to go the ledge on the left (if the place where you got the Reward
is to your back), but you cannot reach it from the water. Swim through the opening
to reach the other part of the pool and locate the rafter on the right. Climb
on it and use the Grapple to catch the shimmering pillar.
Pull yourself close to it and release the Grapple. The current will push you
through the opening, to the part of the pool you were before. Using the Grapple
again, catch the other shimmering pillar and pull
yourself close to it, which is next to the high ledge. Jump on it.
Climb up the ladder. Again, there are two hanging boxes that switch height
when Lara drops on the them. Jump to the first box and when you see the second
one reaching the same level, jump (and possibly grab) on it. Quickly jump to
grab the ledge ahead before the box lowers. Go to the other side of the ledge
and pick up the Bronze Reward (5/5)
from the left behind the pillar. Run, jump and press Jump
again in midair to use the Grapple and catch the shimmering
sign above. Swing and jump to the opposite ledge.
Jump to grab the crack of the pillar and travesre around the corner. Release
to grab the crack below. Traverse around the corner and jump to grab the crevice
in the wall. Traverse a bit to the right and jump to grab the next crevice.
Jump to grab the crevice above, traverse to the right and jump to grab the ledge.
Pull up.
The water puzzle - Step on the pressure
plate on the left. It will activate the nearby mechanism that rotates
the square ledge and drops a huge box on the ground. This means that if you
accidetally fall down, you will not have to take the long route back. Just use
the crevices on the wall that is close to the box. Step off the pressure pad
and let the mechanism rotate the ledge back to its initial position. Jump on
the ledge and then jump to the platform with the statue.
Examine the statue and notice the metalic manacles that hold its hands. When
you stepped on the pressure pad, the left manacle released the hand. When you
stepped off, the manacle closed again. Keep that in mind. Also, notice the shiny
star on the statues chest. If you use the Grapple, it will catch the star, but
you cannot pull it, because statues hands are blocked.
So, jump to the next square ledge, then to the platform with the movable
crate. Push\ pull the crate on the pressure plate
to open the right manacle and release the statues hand. Make your way back to
the first pressure pad. Step on it and allow it
to fully open the other manacle. Remember: when you step off, the manacle starts
closing and the square ledge rotates twice. Step off, allow the ledge partly
rotate and jump. Until you land on it, it will have reach the horizpntal position.
Quickly jump to the ledge with the statue, back up a bit and use the Grapple
to catch the star on its chest. Pull the statue
before the manacle closes.
The cut scene shows the stone door
open, releasing a lot of water to flow through the passage you came from and
the channel that leads to the wheel below.
Jump into the water below and climb into the passage you came from. Climb down
the grating and use the cracks in the wall as before to reach the ladder. Climb
to the bottom and go to the other ladder. Climb it down and wait for a pole
of the turning now wheel to come close to you. Jump to grab it and wait for
the wheel to turn a bit. Swing and jump to grab the rope,
then to the ledge ahead.
Passages with traps - The doorway that was blocked
by the archaeological poles is till blocked, but this time they are moving,
having deadly spikes. So, you need to avoid even
touching them. There are three sets of them and the procedure is the same. When
you see them opening, run past them.
When you clear this trap, you can see another one ahead. This contains rotating
blades that come from the walls alongside. Use the movable
stone block on the left to leave instact. Push it to the passage, sticking
the either left or right wall. The blades will hit the stone and you can leave
intact. Be careful at the end! If you push the block to the very end of the
trap, the blades will catch you from behind. To avoid that, push it almost
to the end (as shown in this screenshot), climb
on it and jump down to the other side. Follow the passage to meet a same trap.
You can find a movable stone block
in the wall opposite the trap. Follow the same procedure to get past it.
Rolling ball\ Outside the Temple - Go through the
doorway and follow the hallway. Go up the stairs and down the next ones. When
you approach the poles ahead, a huge stone ball
rolls from behind. Immediately, jump over the pole on the right, run diagonally
to the left and perform a low somersault beneath the second pole. Keep running
and jump over the spiked pit. Go through the doorway.
The cut scene shows Lara flipping
to the left avoiding the stone ball that crashes the wall.
When this is over, go to the left and climb down the ladder. Turn around and
pick up the Silver Reward (3/4). Then climb up the
ladder to the top. If you accidentally fall to the water,
you can find a greenish ledge where you can climb out. Then climb on the stone
blocks to reach the ledge where you exited after escaping the stone ball.
Jump to grab the pole, swing and jump to grab the
crevice on the pillar ahead. Traverse around to the left and jump to grab the
above ledge. Traverse around to the left and jump to grab the ledge behind.
Shimmy to the end of the ledge and jump to grab the ledge above. A rock
is ready to fall and kill you, so quickly jump to grab the pole
behind. If you cannot do that, you can jump to the left and land into the water,
but you will have to take the long route back. Swing on the pole, jump to grab
the second one and jump to grab the narrow ledge
ahead. Pull up and climb on the platform above. Lara lost the connection with
Zip before and she talks to him to check. Still nothing...
Jump to the metal ledge that is hanging. Lara's weight will lower it, so run
and jump to grab the ledge. Pull up and jump to the next metalic ledge, then
to the ledge below. Lara tries to communicate with Zip and Alister but no one
replies. Make a U turn to the right and jump to grab the pole.
Swing and jump to grab the stone ledge. Traverse to the left around the corner
and jump to grab the ledge above. The rock above
will fall in a while, so quickly jump to grab the pole
on the right. Jump to the next pole, turn around
and jump to grab the next one that is a bit higher.
Swing and jump to grab the crevice of the pillar. Quickly treverse to the left
around the corner, because another rock is falling
from above. Jump to grab the ledge above, traverse around the corner and jump
to the ledge behind you.
Inside the Temple again - Go through the doorway
to enter the Temple again. Follow the hallway.
In the cut scene, Lara finds something
that looks likes a jewel. She recognizes it. It was her mother's. Her father
had given it to her. Lara tried to communicate again with Zip with no luck.
Continue down the stairs to the dark hallway. Turn on the PLS to see clearly.
Be careful of the spiked pit. Jump and use the Grapple
to catch the shimmering sign above. Swing and jump
to the opposite side. Do the same for the next spiked pit.
Then go through the doorway. Draw weapons and kill the three
guards. If you use a Grenade or the huge stone above to kill them and
cut the bridge down, you can use your Grapple and catch the shimmering
sign above. The guards leave Health Packs,
Grenades and guns.
Pick up what you need and continue to the end of the hallway. Go through the
doorway.
Turn right and run to grab the pole. Swing and
grab the next one. Then grab the crevice of the
pillar. Jump to grab the pillar on the left and drop down. From this position,
use a Grenade to explode the brown door (which is shown in this
screenshot). Go inside and pick up the Silver Reward
(4/4). Grab the pillar again and jump to grab the
one you came from. Jump to grab the above crevice and traverse around the corner.
Jump to grab the next two crevices above, traverse around to the right and jump
to grab the crevice above. Jump to grab the pole
behind you, swing and jump to grab the next pole.
Finally jump to the ledge next to the stream.
Do not jump into the water, because it will take you down and kill you. There
are seven guards beyond, so draw weapons. The one
that has different clothes, carry a Grenade Launcher, so make sure you kill
him quickly. Once they are dead, cross the bridge and from what they dropped,
pick up whatever you need. Go through the opening. A leopard
attacks, so kill it. Make sure you have enough health and ammo (collect as many
as possible from the guards you killed), because you will meet Rutland in a
while. Notice the bug brown door ahead. You will open it in a while.
Climb on the broken stairs on the left. Go up a bit and drop down on the right,
because a ball rolls from above. A second
ball will roll, so avoid it too. Then jump to grab the rope
and jump to the other stairs. A ball will roll from
above, so jump back to grab the rope. When it has rolled, jump back to the stairs.
Go to the top and step on the pressure plate to
open the door. Do not go through it yet. Go down and through the brown door.
Pick up the Gold Reward (1/1) and make your way
back up again. Step on the pressure plate to open the door and go through it.
In the cut scene, Rutland is waiting
for Lara. He assumes she is looking for the Ghalali Key, but Lara does not know
what he is talking about. Rutlans says that it is what puts the sword back together
and according to Amanda's research, the Key is here. Lara is wondering what
he knows about Amanda and asks him where she is. He does not reply and just
says that Amanda thinks that Lara's father found the Key. Lara does not know
what he is talking about. She asks him to tell her about the sword segment that
he is holding. He says he spent some time with it and he has learned a couple
of things. He is ready to show her what the sword can do. He jumps on a ledge
and we can see that the sword segment reveals a green light.
Fighting Rutland - The first thing you should know
is that you cannot destroy Rutland immediately.
He manages to regenerate his health by jumping on the four ledges that have
a stone on it. So, your first priority is to destroy the ledges, therefore the
stones that Rutland regenerates his health from. Until you do that, draw your
Pistols with unlimited ammo.
Shoot Rutland, jumping around to avoid his attacks and the grenades he throws.
Soon, he will jump on a ledge to regenerate his health. Rutland has to jump
on the ledge at least once, so that you can start destroying the four stones
(you can destroy them earlier, but the Interact button
does not appear if you do not approach each ledge). Each stone's power is at
the base. When the game indicates, press the Interact
button to smash the sheath of the stone. Then use the Grapple to pull it down.
When Rutland is down, shoot him. The Grenades work fine, but wait until you
have destroyed all stones. When you do that, start shooting Rutland until his
health drops to zero.
When you destroy Rutland, the cut scene
shows Lara approaching him and picking up the sword segment. She tells him and
she is not his enemy. She puts the pieces together and says that they were not
broken apart, but they were designed to sepatare and reattach. She asks Rutland
if the Galali Key does that and he replies that it does. Lara sks him where
these came from. The Crusades? King Arthur? Rutland is not intereted in history.
Lara then suggests him to stay here and consider the future without her in it,
because he will not enjoy seeing her again. As Lara leaves, Rutland says that
her father might not have found the Galali Key, but Amanada does not know that,
who is in Lara's mansion now.
In the next cut scene Lara rides
the bike. Zip talks to her and she is glad to hear him. He tells her that Amanda
came to her home and Lara says she is going there. Zip tells her that they are
fine and that Amanda went for another piece of the sword. Lara asks where and
Alister tells her in Kazakhstan. He found a photo that matches the pieces she
has. He then asks him to make a search about the Ghalali Key. Lara leaves for
Kazakhstan.
